In Summer, 2026, I served as a Program Coordinator for the UCLA Emerging Filmmakers Program. Over the course of two 3-week sessions, I oversaw production of four short films created entirely by high school students.

During the 2017-2018 school year, I served as an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University, within the school’s Storytelling Project.

Working closely with six students, I line-produced an hour-long episode of State Of The Human, a magazine-style radio show and podcast featuring original student journalism.

I also frequently lectured on radio and podcast production, and mentored students.

I led a week-long podcast intensive at UnionDocs, a center for documentary arts in Brooklyn, NY.

Featured guests included Sean Cole (This American Life), Lina Misitzis (The Butterfly Effect), Andrea Silenzi (Why Oh Why?/The Longest Shortest Time), and Lisa Tobin and Michael Barbaro (The New York Times/The Daily).

I led an 8-week seminar in radio reporting and podcast production at The Writing Pad, a writing center in San Francisco.

I volunteered as a mentor, editor, and occasional lecturer for high schoolers learning radio and podcast production at one of the preeminent youth-serving media organizations in the US.

I designed and solo-taught a January-term intensive course, entitled “Documentary Radio & Audioethnography.”

Over the course of four weeks, I led an intimate seminar of six undergraduate students through the production process of a short documentary radio story. We also considered numerous readings on soundscapes and representation within a social sciences context.

Included a visit to the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the radio station WMNF in Tampa.

In 2008, I led a summer-long workshop on documentary radio at the LAYC Art + Media House in Washington, DC. I also taught students how to solder, and we built soundscapes inside of tin cans (which remains one of the coolest things I have ever worked on)

Later, I taught at documentary radio production course through LAYC at Woodrow Wilson High School.

I also worked with LAYC’s Upward Bound program.
